CITYART is a grass roots organization that provides a unique and refreshing forum for the literary arts by bringing together people who are interested in presenting and/or listening to poetry, short stories, memoirs, short plays, multi-media presentations, and other literary forms.

CITYART presents weekly programs at the wonderful downtown Salt Lake City Library featuring invited readers. Readings are typically presented on the first three Wednesday evenings of the school year months at 7 p.m. An Open Reading usually follows, at which audience members may briefly read from their own work. Interested audience members are encouraged to volunteer to help with future programs, or to help organize youth activities.

We present 28-30 readings per year, all free and open to the public. We occasionally bring in prominent out of state poets and writers.

City Art’s mission is to promote the development of writers and the literary community, and to foster audience appreciation of the literary arts, including poetry, fiction, nonfiction and experimental forms.

City Art presents programs that are accessible to all members of the community, with the goal of reaching the widest possible audience, and encourages the growth of both young and mature writers.

CITYART promotes the arts by providing public forums for artists to enable them to present their art to the Utah public. Our mission includes coordinating diverse artistic events, publishing and promoting the work of local poets and providing an Open Reading platform for our audiences.
